this post is a followup to the buffer wall. our 50 acre property is surrounding on 3 sides by 2 other parcels -- 18 acres and 130 acres. i tried to buy each of them but was given prices 2-10x market so i declined.

well, one day both of these parcels were acquired by the same person, with the intent of developing a subdivision. naturally i gave a speech at the requisite city council hearing to no avail.

with no more diplomatic options i opted to build an ugly, 12 foot wall around the section of our property that doesn't have a natural barrier (trees) with this 150 acre surrounding lot.

the goal was (still is) to paint the back side pink and install some air horns if a neighborhood ever gets developed.

update (December 2025)
local rumors tell me the neighborhood project is unlikely to happen (long story), and just last week i got a text message from the developer stating that the owner is willing to sell and abandon the project.

i'll keep you posted if we're able to acquire it
