this isn't a notable accomplishment, i'm sharing to highlight the type of non glamorous effort required to simply exist on a mid-sized property.

whenever there's a storm, trees fall. high winds? trees fall. a few hot summer weeks without rain? trees fall. dry winter? trees fall.

on multiple occasions i've had to drop whatever i'm doing and take a chainsaw to the driveway to clear a path for cars and delivery drivers.

in this instance however, i just got sick of seeing 100s of fallen branches and dead trees on the outside edge of 2 of our pastures. so i started making piles.
just 3 of 6 piles i made in a few hours

after dragging and cutting whatever was most visible i hopped on the tractor, taking each load up to a burn pile.

when logs are too long for the channel between our pastures i have to either re-cut the wood or lift the forks above the fence, which isn't great for the hydraulics or my center of gravity. but that's how it goes.

whenever a climate change activist tries to scream at me, i ask them how many trees they own. how much oxygen they create for their neighbors. when they complain about "deforestation" i know immediately that they don't have a forest of their own.

trees and wood are one of God's most incredible gifts. they're strong, beautiful, renewable, and useful for humans and wildlife alike. but they can also kill you (widowmaker) or hurt the vibe at your ranch.
